Have you ever wondered how it is that haute couture fashion houses such as Marni, Dries Van Noten and Ann Demeulemeester make money? One possible answer: by being open to opportunities.

    Designing uniforms

Earlier this week, the staff at Kensington Palace unveiled their new uniforms, which were designed by high-end British fashion label Jaeger. Won’t be long before Prince William and Kate Middleton can take up residence alongside the gold-trimmed staff.

Antwerp, Belgium-based designer Dries Van Noten may not produce uniforms, but he sure seems to have been inspired by them. Some of his most recent looks have been described as military.

    Designing accessories

Dries Van Noten’s peplum pants may have been the talk of Paris during Fashion Week this spring, but one suspects that his shades, which have also been generating a lot of buzz, may outperform the peplum pants at the cash register.

Designing special lines for big-name retailers

Consuelo Castiglioni of Italian fashion house Marni recently designed a capsule wardrobe for Swedish clothing giant, H&M. A capsule collection is a small number of pieces that are meant to be mixed and matched.

In so doing, Marni is following in the footsteps of such designers as Walter Van Beirendonck (who, coincidentally, went to the same Antwerp fashion academy as Dries Van Noten and Ann Demeulemeester, another acclaimed Belgian designer. More about Demeulemeester below!)

Like Castiglioni of Marni, Dries Van Noten and Ann Demeulemeester’s co-alumnus, Walter Van Beirendonck designs a line of clothing for a retail chain, Belgium’s JBC.

Unlike Castiglioni of Marni, though, Van Beirendonck’s lower-end line is for children.

    Designing special lines for& websites?

Ann Demeulemeester, along with Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck and several other young co-alumnni of the same influential Antwerp fashion school, broke onto the fashion scene by driving a truck filled with samples to London Fashion Week. Leave it to her to find a new way to distinguish herself in the fashion world.

In November 2011, Ann Demeulemeester released a four-piece capsule collection for sale online only.

An all-black unisex collection for Christmas time? How very Ann Demeulemeester!

    Having their own shop

Ann Demeulemeester has famously refused to work for any of the major fashion houses that have reportedly offered her a job. She has been running her own shop in Antwerp for well over a decade now.

    Another purely Ann Demeulemeester specialty?

The most important day in a girls life is her wedding day. Your wedding day is a start of so many different things in your life. You want to look your best on your wedding day, since all the eyes are going to be on you, so make sure you pick out the best dress. There are many dress styles that suites different bodies.

A-line/ Princess: A-line and princess dresses are the most classic of all the styles of wedding gowns. This kind of style falters all body types and all wedding themes. An A-line dress hugs the upper part of the body and flows down to the ground. It resembles a lot like an upper letter A. This style draws attention to your waist and your bust, and takes away the attention from your hip area.

Ball Gown/Full-Skirt: ball gowns are also known as ballerina dress. This kind of dress has a fitted bodice and puffs out at the waist. This style is perfect for the fairytale wedding. If you want to have the Cinderella affect for your big day, this is the perfect dress for you. Ball gowns are known as a BIG dress, so avoid it if you are on a petite side. If you have a smaller bust, padding the upper area would be a great idea, this way you could create a balance.

Column dress: this kind of dress is fitted all over. This dress is fitted from the top, hugs your hips, and has a straight skirt, therefore called the column dress. If you are going for the modern wedding this is the dress for you, since this is not your traditional wedding style. If you are a bit on the plus sizes you might want to avoid this dress, since it will just emphasize the wrong curves. This will look great on a petite body.

Empire line dress: this dress doesnt have a structured waist, and just fits the bust and flares out from there. Mostly this dress has a detailing right under the bust line, so this is great for you if you have a smaller bust. Since it is not structured from the waist, it is great if you fuller waist line and hips. Not recommended for taller brides, since it will make you look even more tall. Petite brides would have an advantage of looking taller in this dress. Best

Playing dress up games helps you create your own style and test your knowledge about fashion. This is a very simple game. Kids, teen, or Adults can play! Read on for some creative ideas and new slants on dress up games and how you play girls dress up games with your daughter.
    Girls Dress Up Games
For dress up clothes, you should collect lots of costumes (no doubt you have lots of halloween costumes and accessories that were only used once or twice) you have around the house. Also, any play clothes or dress up clothes your daughters already have such as scarves, necklaces, capes, old dresses, play high heels for dress up shoes, bracelets, etc.
    More Girls Dress Up Games
An additional option is to get some cool discount fabric and no-stitch glue (so you don’t have to sew anything). Make fabulous skirts, capes, scarves, dresses, kerchiefs, etc. You can use glittery fabric for princess dresses, plain brown cloth to make peasant clothes, etc. for dress up games.
Girls Dress Up Games – About Them
A really great inspiration for girls dress up games is nursery rhymes and fairytales. So, you can use your witch costume from Halloween to be a wicked witch and your daughter can be the princess. Or you can transform your daughter from poor peasant to beautiful Cinderella dressed for the ball. You can even dress up as the fairy godmother! You can be Snow White and your daughter could dress up as one of the dwarfs. The possibilities are endless – the more kids you have, the more characters you’ll have to play out the stories, do plays, etc. You could also dress up as characters and then read the story aloud.
Girls Dress Up Games – In Conclusion
Play celebrity dress up games where your daughter pretends to be ICarly or Hannah Montana – use sunglasses, cowboy boots, a fake guitar if you have one, and/or a karaoke machine. Play kid dress up by transforming your youngsters into their favorite tv character.

The world of womens clothing retail is going through a rather major sea change at the moment as more and more people are starting to shop online. So what are the reasons for this? What will this mean to the retailers on the high street and in the shopping malls? What are the main benefits of shopping online for ladies clothes? These are the questions that I will be answering within this article.

In reality the internet is still very much in its infancy and people are now only just starting to fully trust the security of shopping online. This trend of increased online sales for ladies clothing is likely to continue in the coming months and years as many more people start to realise all of the benefits which are mentioned below.

The first benefit is the convenience of shopping online for clothing. Instead of having to travel to the shops you can browse online at your own comfort. This also saves on the cost of the travel. Instead of having to navigate your way through all of the crowds at the mall you can instead navigate your way through a professional looking website.

The second benefit is the cost of the ladies clothing tends to be cheaper online than in the store/shop. In tough financial times like we are currently facing, making these types of cost savings is essential.

The third benefit is our own time. Shopping for your clothes online saves a massive amount of time, cutting out the travelling as an example. We can then spend this time on more important and fun matters.

For the retailers on the high street there will always be those people who actually enjoy shopping outdoors; people who see it as very much a day out. Therefore there can be room for both forms of retail therapy.

France offers you an enormous choice of goods, but the quintessential French purchase is clothing, especially designer fashions. If you’re on a budget, window shop at the great fashion houses to get a feel of what you want. Then head for the markets and budget shops to do your actual shopping.

    Shopping In Paris

Paris is divided into quarters or arrondissements, each with its own shopping opportunities. Marais is the place for elegance, St-Germain for international fashion brands and Montmartre is dripping with romance.

Paris is of course home to the large French department stores, les grands magasins such as Galeries Lafayette and Printemps and you can spend whole days browsing them. But the sheer joy of shopping in Paris comes from visiting the galleries or passages, the 19th-century glass-roofed shopping arcades that just ooze charm and transform rainy days into shopping adventures.

Bear in mind that most stores in Paris close on Sundays which gives you the opportunity to explore one of the citys many flea markets.

    Shopping In Bordeaux

Few people outside Europe realise what a shopper’s paradise Bordeaux truly is. There are some of the world’s most popular brand names on parade here: Cartier, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Mont Blanc, Christian Lacroix, Rolex and Tartine et Chocolat.

The pinnacle of shopping in Bordeaux is the Golden Triangle of the Alles de Tourny, the Cours de l’Intendance and the Cours Clemenceau. This triangle contains the Place des Grands-Hommes, home to the city’s most prestigious shops vending everything from foodstuffs the latest fashions.

You don’t have to shell out your last dollar on upscale designer shops, however. There are plenty of cheaper French chain stores here for you to choose from along with countless locally-owned boutiques where you can get something special at a reasonable price.

And of course don’t forget the wine. The whole Bordeaux region offer their local vintages for sale by the case and at very favorable prices.
